DR. LEE CHISOLM

Dr. Lee Chisolm was born in Chattanooga, Tennesee.  He grew up in Chattanooga and in Selma, Alabama before ultimately graduating from high school at Newnan High School in Newnan, Georgia.  He attended the University of Georgia and graduated Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science while majoring in Biology.  

Dr. Chisolm attended the Medical College of Georgia in Augusta, Georgia and completed his Internship and Residency training at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston, South Carolina.  He was named the Outstanding Resident of the Year of his Residency Class during his final year of residency.  

Dr. Chisolm has practiced in the Athens area since 2004.  Before joining Dr. DeWitt, he worked at a Community Health Center in Colbert, Georgia where he treated patients in medically underserved Madison County.  Dr. Chisolm joined Dr. DeWitt in practice in October, 2006.  He has served as Chief of Family Medicine at Athens Regional Medical Center (now Piedmont Athens Regional).  He currently is the Medical Director for Kindred Hospice in Athens.    Dr. Chisolm currently lives in Athens with his wife, Rebecca, a Realtor with Chastain Jenkins and Leathers, and thier two sons Charlie and Brooks.

DR. HENRY DEWITT

Dr. Henry DeWitt was born in Cornelia, Georgia.  Dr. DeWitt is a graduate of Habersham Central High School, and he received a Bachelor of Science from Clemson University .  He attended Medical School at the Medical College of Georgia and completed a Family Medicine Residency at Roanoke Memorial Hospital in Roanoke, Virginia.  He served as Chief Resident during his final year of Residency. 

Dr. DeWitt worked as an Emergency Department physician for two years in Greeneville, Tennesee.  He subsequently went into practice in Hartwell, Georgia where his practice included obstetrics as well as general family medicine.  He moved his practice to Athens in 1995.  He began his solo practice in 2003, and Dr. Chisolm joined him in practice in 2006.

Dr. DeWitt has three children: Ben, a Lt. Cdr. in the Navy; Betsy, a graduate of the University of Georgia; and Emily a graduate of Clemson University.  His wife, Linda, was employed by Synovus, the parent company of Athens First Bank and Trust Company.  Although Dr. DeWitt graduated from Clemson, he is a supporter of UGA sports in all contests (except one as he cannot bring himself to pull against his alma mater.)

CARRIE SCRUGGS, N.P.

Carrie Scruggs is a certified Nurse Practitioner and has worked with DeWitt and Chisolm since 2012.  
Carrie has lived in and around Athens, Georgia for most of her life.  She attended Athens Academy and then Vanderbilt University on a music scholarship, where she played the harp.  She earned a Bachelor in Music with a Pre-Med degree.  Carrie then went to nursing school at Vanderbilt, and earned her Masters in Science of Nursing with an Acute Care Nurse Practitioner degree.  
Carrie worked for over 18 years with Athens Cardiology Group, part of the Athens Regional/Piedmont Health Systems.  She has been with Drs. Chisolm and DeWitt since 2012. Carrie lives in Athens with her husband Lanier, a financial advisor with Synovus Bank and their 3 sons, Lewis, Jackson, and Henry.

SALLY TINGLE - N.P.

Sally is a Family Nurse Practioner. She grew up in Cleveland, Tennessee.  After graduating from Girls Preparatory School in Chattanooga, she attended Clemson University where she received her Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing and a minor in Spanish.

She worked five years as an emergency room nurse in the Level One Trauma Center at the Medical Center of Central Georgia in Macon. During this time, Sallie earned her Master of Science in Nursing from Georgia College and State University.  After relocating to Athens, Sallie worked five years in the Piedmont Urgent Care centers prior to begin working with DeWitt and Chisolm.  She has been working with them since 2020.  


She is married to Caleb, an Athens native and graduate of Westminster Christian Academy and the University of Georgia, and is the mother of five children. The Tingle family are long time members of Redeemer Presbyterian Church. She and her family enjoy traveling, being outdoors, sports, concerts, neighbors, and their wonderful GSP puppy, Cobern
